Meet Dennis, the owner of Di An Di, a Vietnamese restaurant in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Back in the day when Dennis was cooking at a local NY restaurant, he was introduced to the Brooklyn Flea from some friends and co-workers who were running a successful stand of their own. Stricken with curiosity, he would reserve time on the weekends to lend a hand at their stand to get a sense of what it was like to run a concept at the market. He began asking himself “Could I start something like this on my own?” and soon after developed a BBQ concept that combined his Austin, TX hometown roots and love for Vietnamese cuisine. After a few application attempts, he finally got in and began his Smorgasburg journey. Throughout his time as a vendor at the Flea (and later Smorgasburg), he learned what it took to truly run a food business from start to finish. Doing so made him very confident in his abilities as an entrepreneur so it was an easy next step to open a storefront of his own when the time came. In 2017, Dennis opened the doors to Di An Di. He worked with his team to produce an authentic Vietnamese menu that isn’t tpyically found in New York. He plans to continue to serve his delicious dishes like the infamous “Pho Thin” while also keeping up with changes in the cuisine, the times and his staff. We are so proud of Dennis for making his restaurant dream a reality and can’t wait for all of you to try his amazing food.
