Acne is not something I thought I would experience. On the left is what my skin used to look like back in 2018, before acne. I barely had breakouts, maybe one a month consisting of one single spot. Never did I think that 18 months later I would be on the brink of experiencing the worst breakout of my life, with severe acne for months like the picture on the right. Going from one extreme to the other was very difficult. It was hard to adjust to the fact that my skin would never look the same, and even though a course of antibiotics healed the severity of the breakout, I still experience them at a rate that I hadn’t before I hit the age of 23. Having acne has been a life changing experience. It redefined what I thought “clear” skin meant and gave me an understanding of how to deal with how I felt about how I looked. Acne is normal and even though it was the toughest experience of my life, I’m proud to have the opportunity to bare my skin with every single “flaw” on show for the world to see.
