Gigi is Filipino, Spanish, Australian, German, Irish, English (American) ~ her skin hair and eyes seem to be getting fairer and she is developing more little moles and freckles. Last week we had an appointment with our family dermatologist Dr. Webber and had her freckles and moles checked. He was wonderful and she was so great during her appointment. She just sat up on the bed in her nappy chuckling away and was so calm. We wanted to make sure that they were all ok and normal as I wasn’t born with any and didn’t develop any until I was older. Not knowing if the donors family had melanoma later on (as he was in his 20s when donated) It was a priority for us to get expert advice. We all get checked once a year as Kirt is Of Scottish heritage and from years of playing soccer and working outdoors later in life she has lots of freckles that we get checked out. I shamefully was obsessed with solariums and tanning, now I find the sun hurts my eyes if I’m out in the light longer that 10 minutes. If this is your reminder - book in to have your skin checked too! When you have a referral, Medicare (if your eligible) gives you a great rebate. We already hit the family threshold for 2022 (thanks to IVF) so it pretty much gave us most of the appointment fees back. (Such a great money saving life hack) so if you’re in the same boat, get checked!
We just went to our bulk billing Dr for the referral and it was refunded the next day. $250* per person. If you’re wanting to see a sun cancer clinic Dr, their consultations are only around $50 I think 🤔 but just check the rebates. If you haven’t had your moles checked please do- it’s one thing I always remind my friends and clients to do 🌞
