In “Air Out Your Dirty Laundry” (Saca tus trapos al sol), a multi-strand community clothesline replaces the 193 flags along Rockefeller Center Plaza. Composed out of secondhand clothing gathered in public exchanges with Mexico City residents, the lines of wear create an intimate, familiar sight more common to rooftops around the world than to grand plazas. Participants at the Mexico City exchanges were asked to share audio recordings for archival about the memories attached to the clothing they donated – including breakups, summer loves, struggling activists, children growing up, weaving artisans, and refugees newly finding a home in Mexico. Meant as a collective portrait, the installation bears witness to the artist’s belief that communities are based on personal relations and stories, rather than strict borders and nationalistic values. The exhibition was organized by @masagaleria with @galeriaomr support. Curated by @imrevolting. On view through June 12 @rockefellercenter. Special thanks to everyone who generously donated an item and shared their personal stories / Gracias a todxs lxs que donaron un artículo y compartieron sus historias. 🙏 Production Assistant Team in CDMX: @danielurangaa @luckybxby @arenademardesertico @la_supremma @zismo_ @el_jysus_ GRACIAS! 📸 by Caylon Hackwith #piacamil #masagaleria #rockfellercenter
