This is some footage from one of my wildlife cameras in the Santa Monica Mountains.
In June two adult Coyotes with 5 pups appear. They are beautiful.
But life is tough. By the end of July there were 3 pups left.
After that, in August, the surviving Coyotes (adults, and now just 2 pups) all show severe signs of mange. Mange is often a secondary result of rodenticide poisoning.
This is a reminder that rodenticides travel up the food chain, and end up killing the very same wildlife that actually keeps rodent populations under control. Hawks, Owls, Bobcats, Foxes, Cougars, Coyotes etc.
