Jose When I first met Jose - one of of our few conversations was about intimacy and sexuality. Jose invited me to be a part of a show he curated back in march and while visiting his place where he lives , works there was comfort of the exchange in energy within our conversation. We went straight to a topic of our sexuality and how we tend to unfold and his experiences as a bisexual man- finding intimacy in women and in men, but as for many still it’s still that question pick one ! So are you gay or straight no in between. Im often reminded of how sometimes men still remain silent about their sexual identities because we either grow up with heavy machismo, government and laws that tend to build homophobic views on men / women, conservative towns or religion which then makes it harder for those wanting to express and why some of us choose to escape or leave to another state that has those freedoms and exposure, yet I dream of a world where every corruptive government / white supremacy is demolished where every state in this fucked country can live with freedom. Seeing Jose’s work and the curation of his events was a beautiful sight to see for a small town of ft worth texas where in a space of queerness, trans, straight, poc , etc ..was in one space enjoying music and art and that’s the work I honor and to those like Jose who create these spaces for those who don’t have the access and to give those an opportunity to showcase their art.
