🧡🪶 Today I want to talk about my family history and my Grandmother Mae. 🧡🪶 Her mother, my great grandmother, left the Cherokee nation reserve in Oklahoma 🇺🇸 in a covered wagon to begin her life in Saskatchewan Canada 🇨🇦 My grandmother never admitted she was indigenous and strongly disliked if someone mentioned her appearance resembled such. This is sad. No matter who we are, we should be proud and embrace our culture. It’s 2022 and we need to change the way the world judges. Professionally I worked many years in several aboriginal communities and organizations. This beautiful culture needs to be remembered and the world needs to continue to be educated. I have always shared the culture with my kids. My grandmother was strong, loving and beautiful! She will forever be remembered as such.
