The final spots to visit in Scotland were Bannockburn and Stirling. The Battle of Bannockburn is perhaps the most famous Battle in Scottish history (tied with Culloden I suppose) in which Robert the Bruce led a decisive victory over England. It was interesting to walk the greater area from the hill behind the Battle, along the burn, and up to his vantage... then onward to Stirling Castle which he subsequently destroyed. Fascinating history, and beautiful weather to wrap up our time in Scotland. Fun fact: I was born on Robert the Bruce's 707th birthday. It was pretty neat to hike to that town (Annan) a week before visiting his most famous military site much farther north.
