Hello from your new favorite queer 90’s rock band 👨🏽‍🎤👨🏻‍🎤🧑🏽‍🎤👩🏽‍🎤 We exist in a time and space where social media has reduced our lives into mere fractions and seconds, contributing to people no longer being able to discern what is reality from what is fabricated, often in their own minds. It’s a lifestyle forcing us to suffer from memory loss and an inability to retain authentic memories and connection to the mindfulness about who has shown up repeatedly to be supportive. It leaves people around us marred by an idea of scarcity. Which is why yesterday felt so uplifting and heartening to share space with 3 other queer chefs whom I admire and respect, while we co-hosted a dinner celebrating our intersectional identities and heritage for a 4-course dinner at the James Beard House, which also happened to take place on National Coming Out Day, during LGBTQIA+ History Month. It was a pleasant reminder of the collective power of community when we work together to hold space for many and not just a few. When we work to bring each other up rather than hoard. How it reverberates through a room when we use our individual platforms to speak beauty into your community and not get lost in the energy of competition and veiled aggressions. It was a pleasant reminder of my own privilege that I hold and how that would not have been achieved without the support of cherished friends and generous strangers around me. It was a dream to curate last night’s menu with Annie, Halo, Jessie and Gian. To relish in the beauty of the chaos we exist in and how we can still come together in harmonious synergy, colliding in a perfectly aligned manner to provide reassurance that we are on the right path. 🫶🏻 @thelescook @eatwithgian @eatplaylove69 @_annie_wu_ 📸 @lipyanskiy_photo ever and always thanks to @lanihalliday for being a true jack of all trades and friend, capturing content, expediting, making impromptu centerpieces❤️
