Storytime: I will NEVER forget the time when I felt that I had nothing. My heart and spirit were so broken. And I was BROKE....no y’all, like broke broke. My car had been repossessed and I was living in @addieglxy spare bedroom. She donated her car to me just so I could get around. I got a call from @cedricterrell that CNN was hiring. I thought there’s no way I could work at CNN. I only had a little experience on TV sets with my mentor @elenageorge1mkp in New York and I had to remember what @cindylou_thestylist and @jesshairpro taught me at @aveda as a front desk receptionist in college. Elena prayed with me and encouraged me to take the shot. I managed to do well on a phone interview and got offered an audition. I had 3 weeks to prepare for this audition of my life. Everything was riding on it. My livelihood, confidence, and self-esteem. I NEEDED THIS. I was so nervous walking into the bureau on audition day and I prayed and asked God to give me the courage and confidence to kill it! I knew my life was about to change in the next hour. I was a ball of nerves but very confident. No more borrowing money from friends, no more repossessed cars, and insufficient funds notices. Little did I know that was the day I met @rachelle_lanaey_ . She was an artist at CNN and was watching me during my audition. She was so welcoming and very pregnant. Her hospitality settled my nerves and I just did what I knew how to do....make someone camera ready in 45 mins blowout and full glam. My life DID change that day and I am so great for my forever tribe. I want to encourage any artist out there who is lost and afraid to always have faith.
