Maximizing and maintaining the lifespan of extensions. Turn your sound up for this one☺️. . . There are several ways to make extensions last a little bit longer and look better over time. Some of those ways include toning the hair when it is necessary, making sure to use heat protectant and serum and doing regular treatments. But, in this video, I’m going to show three other ways I like to maintain extensions. . . The first way includes trimming off the worn edges of a volume weft. Over time those edges are stitched into quite a bit and get a little weak and messy looking. When this happens I like to just clip off the edges when I’m doing a full reinstall. . . The second thing to remember is extension hair is still just human hair and it needs to be trimmed regularly. This is even more important as it gets a little bit older so I like to make sure that I keep up with trims and that I keep up with surface trimming as well. Surface trimming helps maintain the shine of the hair and makes it easier to brush through while also helping it look new. . . The last thing is making sure to trim the beard layer of the weft. This is true for both hand tied and volume (machine tied) wefts. The hair that is folded over the weft curls up over time and can look messy, so I like to make sure that as this happens I give it a little trim. . .
