This week's WoC leadership spotlight is Sarah Hubbard! ✨Sarah hosts the Highest & Best podcast for women in real estate. Originally from Kansas City, she has been in Boulder, CO for 10+ years and loves to ski, hike, and fly fish. She is the mama of an amazing little girl named Ellie, who has brought so much humor and love to her life. Like real estate, toddler parenting is a new adventure every day. 1. What advice would you give to other women in real estate? Transitioning into real estate from a career in branding made a ton of sense for me and it also came with a lot of surprise about the reality of the day to day experience of this job. Holding space for clients to be vulnerable with their emotions, finances, relationships, fears, vision for their future, takes a toll on your head and heart. What I have really learned is that your community is everything - finding realtors whom you respect and who do business the way you do, in a style that feels right to you, is key. (Grateful for my team at Higgins Kalush Collective) And I'd also say build up a toolkit of skills and daily practices to help you stay on the surface through the volatility and unexpected nature of this job. Just assume it will be a little groundless at times and lean into that.That is really what the podcast is all about - helping to share those tools so we all feel stronger and more confident. 2. How do you balance the demands of your professional career with personal life, and what strategies do you use to maintain that balance? For me, it really comes down to a few things: the first, is being honest with my clients about my availability. As a single mom, I can't always answer the phone but I set that expectation very early and let clients know that when I am with them, I will be fully with them, but I can't answer the phone during bedtime. Second, instead of having super busy days of hustling, I've brought better balance into every day. 3. If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and why? I'd have a cozy dinner party with my best friends. They are my foundation, my compass, my wise cabinet of advisors, and they are all over the world, so a dinner together would be a dream.
