Thank you Orion Pictures for inviting me to the private screen of @tillmovie hosted by Whoopi Goldberg. I was hesitant to watch the film due to the horrific murder of 14-year-old Emmett Till, however, it reminded me that we can’t close our eyes to history. One thing that truly was highlighted was the strength and the advocacy work his mother Mamie Till did to ensure his life mattered. Black mothers across the country still face the same fears and unfortunate faith Mamie faced when her child was taken from her. The movie showcases the thread of racial injustice to young black bodies still lives within our society today and that black women are the leaders within the movement. Thank you Chinonye Chukwu for directing this historical film.
