Scenes from a happy 4th spent in Watch Hill with family! The discourse about what it means to be an American right now is very fraught between reproductive rights and gun control among other very important issues of the day- and yet, I still get emotional hearing the “Star-Spangled Banner” and watching my kids take in the magical wonder of 4th of July fireworks. The anger and sadness I feel in the wake of the Supreme Court decision and yet another mass shooting are in stark juxtaposition with the pride and luck I feel for being an American. We clearly have much work to do as a nation and as citizens to bridge the ever-growing divide in our country- while also fighting to keep our kids safe and hopeful about the future we are helping shape now.
