Last night I performed 3 poems at my first international open mic, in Barcelona, Spain. I was sooo nervous because I didn’t know how many people would understand English or be performing in different languages... and I just haven’t performed in person much since before the pandemic. But this was everything I needed! All 3 of my poems were received so well, and I met amazing poets and musicians from all around the world 🥹 . Most of the poems were actually in English, with one phenomenal piece being in French, and another in Greek. Not to mention I got asked to headline in TWO shows in Spain later on in the month ! 😭😭🙌🏾🙌🏾 (always thanks to @orvillethepoet and @purepoetrylive who believed in me and gave me my first opportunity to headline a show back in the day ! You changed my life, truly.) Just when I was feeling writers block and like my poetry wasn’t really good enough, last night was the affirmation I needed to keep going. It’s so crazy how such an intimate show can make you feel like a rockstar.
