K-tip VS hand tied wefts ✨ . . Most of the time when we are thinking about extensions for a guest with fine to medium hair, we are thinking about one of these two methods. So how do they face off? . . K-tips are a method that has 360° mobility and can be cut down or customized very small to accommodate to guests with really fine hair around the face or higher up on the head. This is where K-tips shine! This method can go places that no other method can go and really offers light weight coverage with awesome mobility in the end. You can also combine several colors together. Typically you are using between 4 to 6 packs of hair, which gives you a lot of color options to use. You can do more of traditional color placement by putting different colored pieces next to one another or you can create your own custom blend by fusing two colors together. K-tips do not have a maintenance plan so they are worn in the hair typically anywhere between 3 to 6 months depending on the client’s hair strength and density and then a new set is applied. So, this is a really great method for someone who does not want to be in the salon often. . . Now for Hand tied wefts. This method is considered full coverage because the hair is one long strand attached by tethers. Typically you are using 1 to 2 packs of this method so you can combine a couple of different colors. Usually color combinations are done by stacking different colors on top of one another. This method has a mobility that goes up or down. This method still lays flat against the head and it is light weight while offering full coverage: meaning it’s really helpful for guest that have a little bit more of a blunt cut. These need to be maintained between every 4 to 6 weeks- having two shorter maintenance appointments and one full reinstallation. . .
