Here is a breakdown of how I edit the footage from my DJI Pro 3 Drone. Make sure you’re shooting in D-Log, this profile lets you get the most from your footage in post. Then we apply the D-Log to Rec709 LUT from DJIs website, this LUT was designed specifically for Pro 3 footage. Now we’re going to add our grade, a combination of creative LUTS and adjustment layers. I wanted to give this footage a cinematic fall look. And now my favourite part, the sound effects. Drone footage does not capture audio, so it’s up to us to bring that experience back to life. I used footstep, steam, forest, and waterfall audio and layered it at different volumes and speeds to match what I remember while shooting. Volume dictates distance and it’s very important to make sure you line footsteps up to match the feet in the video.
