@sarahvanrij “Intuitively capturing the real / unstaged is to me one of the most magical forms of photography and I think in a way we need it to understand ourselves a little more, I know I do. In my street work I want to elevate the mundane into something special, often to a place where a number of my images turn out feeling almost staged and cinematic, while the scenery in real life wasn't particularly special and probably has gone unnoticed to other passers-by. In the visual world I create shapes and colours are a very important language, equally as important as the human abstract elements you will find throughout my work. Instead of sending one narrative message across, my work is about intuition, a sentiment and showing a different perspective on the unstaged and real moments. But it’s also about giving the viewers the freedom to discover and create their own feelings and stories within those frames, like I do when I'm photographing.
