Today we honor the darkness. Acknowledging that we each hold light and dark within our beings. That nature itself balances in that same duality. We honor our ancestors while recognizing our own inherent destiny to become one as well. We honor the sacredness of the cycle. Remembering that the soil that noursishes our food is ancestral in origin. That in life, we are formed from death. The veil grows thin as we leave the light half of the year to journey into the dark half. Where we can contemplate our irrevocable mortality.
