This series I shot for @kittyyeungsikyung is very near and dear to my heart. We shot this together in December of last year, right before @elsonyau99 was due to get married and move to Taiwan. I’m still struck by how tender and honest he was in front of the camera. It didn’t matter that he wasn’t a model and didn’t completely understand my ideas for how to shoot him. He was always game to try different things, and gifted all of us with his immense trust. When we had a brief moment to talk about his experience being trans in hong kong, I was so touched by his story and how sincere and open he was to discuss his journey transitioning. I really whole-heartedly believe that we owe it to our subjects to know them more as humans. If photo is special to you, your interaction with your subject should be too.
