A surface feeding manta ray will swim just below the water's surface, tilting its head back so its upper jaw is just above the surface. This enables them to feed on the top few centimetres of water when zooplankton is concentrated there. If you look above the surface, you'll often see a manta ray's pectoral fins flapping and splashing about as it feeds. @ocean_ell #MantaRays #Zooplankton #MaldivianMantaRayProject #FSMaldives #BaaAtoll #VisitMaldives #ReefMantaRay #Maldives #Mobula #HanifaruBay #MarineBiologyShots #BiosphereReserve #UnescoBiosphereReserve @fsmaldives @maldivianmantaproject
