Studying the main areas where the term is expressed, I delved into Fernando Pessoa’s poetry. His great aesthetic creation is considered the invention of heteronyms. Saudade means feeling life with all the pores of the skin and learning to value everything around us. As much as it is linked to the past and the present, it is directed toward the future, toward something that does not exist, will exist, or perhaps will never exist. Inspired by Pessoa’s four main literary personalities, four dancers will play different heteronyms, each carrying his/her own biography and autonomous personality and having experienced his/her own intimate form of Saudade. Each exists as an individual and in relation to the others because Saudade, unlike nostalgia or loneliness, can be experienced not only on an individual level, but also as a collective.
