What do all of these groups have in common? They have all been victims of acts of violence or other forms of persecution based on their religion or beliefs. Today and all days we must commit to safeguarding the precious right to freedom of religion, conscience and belief. And we must do everything in our power to protect faith communities everywhere from religiously motivated violence. We see such acts of senseless violence far too often, from the massacre of Christians in Nigeria, to the frequent killings of Ahmadis in Pakistan, to the targeting of Jews in every region of the world, and many more tragic examples.
