The 2018 International PCOS guidelines set clear advice for women to help guide them with exercise to manage their weight. Many women report that they are not given lifestyle advice during their consultations. What is moderate exercise? What is vigorous exercise? What counts as exercise? For how long should we exercise to control weight or loose weight? This is simply a guide to start discussions on this topic. Exercise ameliorates insulin resistance. This guide does not speak about diet, but looking at full lifestyle is important.
Women gain weight centrally in both PCOS and menopause due to hormonal changes, this can cause them huge concern.
This guidance can be used as a starting point to talking about positive movement, and how we can help women be more active and what tools they could use to find movement they love to do to keep them in the best health.
