ALWAYS LOOK AHEAD..A little over a year after having a pacemaker implanted, it was time for another surgery. The narrowing of veins in my heart has led to blood flow issues due to the pacemaker leads (wires) that run through the veins in the upper & lower chambers in my heart. Ironically this was found as our ‘94 National Championship team was leaving the hotel to be inducted into the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, MA chapter. I spent the next several days in the hospital having test after test done. Just 6 months ago the FDA approved a new pacemaker developed by Abbott which is duel chamber wireless & is implanted directly into the heart - one implanted in the upper & one implanted in the lower chamber.. A blessing this new technology, not only was it FDA approved, but it’s now available to patients, the first surgery and implant in Massachusetts was on January 16th. This week I had the surgery, the team of cardiologists at MGH are incredible. Since my open heart surgery at the ages of 12 & other heart procedures along the way, I have always remained positive, optimistic & looked ahead. It’s truly the way I live my life in all that I have done & will continue to do, rarely am I negative or pessimistic about anything life brings. It’s what I believe makes me strong, resilient & determined to succeed in all that I do in life, personally & professionally. I share this for one reason & one reason only, no matter what life brings you stay positive & always remain optimistic it will get you far in anything you dream of doing, achieving and being in the Game of Life! If you are determined with a positive attitude you can & will achieve just about anything you set out to accomplish. A side note, along with being positive/optimistic get regular physicals and check ups, see your physicians when something is off. Don’t wait! You take care of your home, your car, computers, cell phones and other silly materialistic things, there is no greater investment than your health & family!
