I’m happy to share the release of the video for @marissa_nadler , If I Could Breathe Underwater. Link to full video in my bio. The story behind this video was something that came to me immediately the first time that I listened to the track. This song took on many meanings to me and I love that about it. How beauty and tragedy collide... Dreaming of having supernatural powers to change reality and have the ability to live and breathe underwater. It could also speak to the duality of existence. That we all have inner personas or shadow selves, and how we envision those different masks we wear. How we may long to live as the most magical of those masks. I chose to make something that touched on the idea of duality and the inner persona. Knowing that this part of you exists. To connect to the two worlds. This was shot on #16mm film (with the exception of the underwater shots). I love creating with analog film. I feel that classic cinema really captures a nostalgic feeling and a dreamy quality that no other medium can. I wanted to stay as close as I could with classic editing styles, so I used paint in water techniques to color parts of the film.
