I am VERY proud to share that I directed the phenomenally hysterical @atsukocomedy in her very first (but certainly NOT last) @hbo stand-up special. I met @atsukocomedy when she auditioned for a Netflix TV show that I was a host for. The idea was for each of the hosts to choose comedians to mentor thru the season and ONE comedian walks away with their own comedy special. I suppose it was somewhere between The Voice and Last Comic Standing. Anyway, I chose @atsukocomedy to mentor because not only was she SO funny but also SO different and SO ridiculous and SO clearly had such a great story to tell. I loved her instantly. Then the pandemic hit with the lockdown and the show never aired. But as far as I know, Atsuko is the one and only comedian from that unaired TV show to emerge with an hour special on a major network- unrelated to that Netflix series. She deserves it along with every single ounce of success coming her way. I love her. I lover her husband @ryanharpergray and I absolutely LOVE her grandma too.
