HOMESCHOOL RECAP 4: Space & personal space!
If I’m being honest, I don’t know how I’ll top this field trip!! The @kennedyspacecenter hosted us yesterday for what was the most incredible learning/fun homeschool day, I’m still in shock and already trying to plan another space week into our school year so we can go back! Their newest exhibits have really catered to kids, it really was such a dream day🌎✨🤍🪐 #learnathomewithjandb
Here was the breakdown of our week:
🔘PLANETS IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM- this week was a lot of books, worksheets, and videos just soaking in the information. The girls knew the planets, so this was just really diving in to more details about each of them!
🔘SOLAR SYSTEM MODEL- last year we made a model of the solar system and have had it hanging in our homeschool space ever since! The girls didn’t want to recreate it again this year (they love their old one so much!) but I wanted to show it because it is definitely a great visual when learning about the planets!
🔘PHASES IF THE MOON- I love this Oreo moon craft and the girls had a whole lot of fun with it!
🔘SPACE SNACK BOARD- the themed lunch this week included star shaped foods & sandwiches, galaxy popcorn we made together, and space ship fruit kabobs!
🔘JOURNAL- Berkley put together a journal and used it throughout the week to take notes, write down facts, and document her astronaut interview questions and answers. I gave her the project of creating a visual and writing a report of her findings from the week, so this was a great source for her to keep her information together.
🔘PERSONAL SPACE- we had some great conversations about personal space, what they means, and how that may be different for everyone and needs to be respected. We’ll jump more into this when we do our Human Body study, but this was a great start to setting boundaries for yourself.
After this week, I thought about extending our Space unit to a second week, because there is just so much to learn! But I think we’ll do a part 2 in the spring, so we can do an info refresher and a second visit to The Kennedy Space Center! We spent the entire day there and there is still so much to go back and see!
