Most colored yarns used in socks Package Dye their fibers, including wool. They are placed in a dye bath resulting in socks that are not 100% colorfast that bleed/fade. This process requires additional energy to boil water to dye the fibers that produce dye wastewater. Drymax fibers are "solution" (dope) dyed where color pigments are added when extruded, locking in the pigments and producing colors that tend not to bleed/fade.
