Diary of an Underwear Dream (Chapter 11): When Print Was Everything Back in the ’90s, getting noticed wasn’t as simple as creating a buzz on Instagram or launching a clever campaign on Tik Tok. That world didn’t exist yet. To build a brand, we needed to land placements in traditional magazines—Vogue, Elle, InStyle. Editors would come to trade shows, browse the booths, flip through line sheets, and circle styles that caught their eye. We’d head back to the office, pack up the requested samples, and ship them off—hoping, praying, crossing our fingers that something might get selected. Even then, it was never guaranteed. The sample could be shot and still end up on the cutting room floor. No guarantees. Just hope. Looking back, I realize how lucky we were to be included in some of those iconic pages. Press wasn’t just a growth strategy—it was a lifeline. And we’re still so deeply grateful.
