Spent a couple of summer afternoons observing these little wonders by the river. It has truly been a summer of observation so far for me, inquiries in simplicity, the re-construction of foundations.
These are the ‘beautiful demoiselle’. The blue are male, and the bronze/green are female, and the iridescence is just stunning and extra special to see with a macro lens.
Photography is always teaching me what it means to truly see. You can take a lot of photos rather haphazardly, hoping something looks good and works out, and that you’ll like it in the end. But that would just be a guess.
The gift is that when practiced, a camera can help you immerse yourself deeper into a moment, a story. But it does require practice. You are the artist, the seeker, the seer, and those things take time. Not always at the prescriptive pace of a society that demands speed, reactivity, noise; sometimes you must slow down in order to observe, first of all. And only once you have some understanding of that moment, you click the shutter. 💭
