Repost as Instagram keeps glitching out on my uploads. On Saturday morning, two days after the Queen passed away, I found myself being ushered into a press pit on an island in the middle of the road towards the end of Pall Mall. From the pit there was a view down past St James Palace where crowds gathered an hour later to observe the proclamation of King Charles III. Sadly from Pall Mall there was no view of the soon to be King but that didn’t stop the general public from crowding it’s pavements in the hope of catching a glimpse of him leaving. Sadly, he never came past this way, but I turned my camera on the layers of faces waiting for the new monarch: occasionally punctuating the quiet with shouts of ‘God save the King!’ ~~~~ #queen #London #king #charlesiii
