a bunch of people have asked me what inspired the let go video and honestly that’s kind of wild?? because no one’s really asked me about my art before??? but i do love talking about it so... ask and ye shall receive. the video is a raw, slightly unhinged depiction of my first job in the music industry. i spent most of that time running in circles (literally and emotionally) chasing some version of myself i couldn’t quite reach, and trying to keep going without any real resolution. over time that just gets exhausting and kinda humiliating lol. i had also just been diagnosed with POTS (iykyk), so we made sure to depict that with the heart in the video. i chose to shoot part of it in central park to honor my ancestor frederick law olmsted, who designed the space. he once said, “A park is a work of art, designed to produce certain effects on the mind of men... there should be nothing in it which does not represent study, design, [and] a sagacious consideration of cause and effect.” i think about that a lot - the idea of building a world that feels immersive and chaotic on purpose. i can’t control how you feel, but i can shape what you move through. that’s what i wanted this song (and all my songs) to feel like. so there’s all the tea on the video!!!! any additional questions comment them and i will happily yap, u guys know i’m an open book. i’m just so happy it’s out in the world 🤍🌀 📸 @digitalbyapril #ethereal #etherealgrunge #whimsical #indiefilm #nyclife #sidequest #imogenheap #altmusic
