Edited by @thechrisrice The first time I heard Willa’s music, I felt such intimacy and purity within it. The feeling surrounded me like I was in her bedroom with her hearing her sing to me. There is also this duality of sweetness and darkness, which I love. I wanted to create a video that had those same feelings within it. For the viewer to feel connected with her as I did when I heard the song. So I decided to shoot this in a bedroom-like setting. It was shot on #16mm film and DV. I thought it would be an interesting effect to mix the two, to play a bit more into the duality aspect. The 16mm has a very dreamy essence to it; I feel such a closeness to the person I'm shooting when I use film. It also captures closer to what we see in reality and holds a nostalgic feeling. The DV is a bit harsher, sort of like old school home movies or security cameras. I thought this view of her could be more voyeuristic and “cam girl” vibes, or performing for hidden cameras that you know are there in the room. The mud bath was a sort of play on the aspect of feeling so grounded and trying to reach a lover that feels like they are on a higher plane of existence. Someone so magical, that they feel alien like.
