When Joe heard about overcrowding at Austin shelters, he wanted to help by fostering cats. As he learned more about APA!’s cat programs, Joe decided to foster kitties with ringworm. Ringworm is a contagious skin infection that's very treatable. Unfortunately, not all shelters have the resources to help these cats. We started the adoption center in 2010 with hopes to help these kittens and cats, and help end the stigma around ringworm. We’re fortunate to have many selfless fosters like Joe and others who take in these kittens and cats as they recover! This year we’ve adopted out over 900 cats with ringworm! Joe now has six happy and healthy cats dashing around his home! Three are his own, and three that he’s fostering (though he plans to adopt one of them soon). Annika and Backhoe are the two cats Joe is fostering who are still available for adoption! He hopes to find them homes soon so he can foster more cats from us! There are many more cats available at our Maddie's® Cat Adoption Center: Treatment and Care for Ringworm Positive Cats both for foster or adoption! You can visit us daily from 12-6pm.
