Once upon a time, one of my favorite anesthesia residents (Jared W-beginning-Polish-last-name-that-I-can-never-pronounce) gave me several peppers (Fresno and Bulgarian Carrot) from his personal garden. I promptly took them home, chopped them up into tiny bits and dropped them into a bottle of tequila to infuse for several hours. To my dismay, I found that I could not fall asleep that night due to the fact that my hands and eyes were still experiencing searing pain from the pepper chopping and careless post-chop sleep-deprived eye-rubbing. Per Dr. Internet, I tried alcohol swabs, then nail polish remover, and finally a sequence of canola oil followed by a rinse and scrub with dish soap (two times) on my hands before the stabbing tingly sensation abated enough for me to sleep. FOR YOU, DR. W ▫️1⁄2 oz blackberry orange ginger shrub (@pomonashrubco) ▫️1⁄4 oz orange vanilla syrup (@royalroseme) ▫️3⁄4 oz spicy hibiscus tequila liqueur* ▫️1 oz tequila blanco (@prosperotequila) ▫️3⁄4 oz mezcal (@gemandbolt) ▫️3⁄4 oz lime juice Shake and strain! Garnish with dried hibiscus, orange, and ginger. Hibiscus Mole salt (@mezsal_salts) on the rim. *Spicy hibiscus liqueur: 375 mL of blanco tequila infused with one Fresno pepper, one Bulgarian Carrot pepper and a handful of dried hibiscus flowers + 375 mL of dilute simple syrup (2:1 water to sugar) + 2 teaspoons of orange bitters–if you aren’t committed to making this, a combo of @liberandco Grenadine, a couple dashes of @scrappysbitters Firewater bitters, and a smidge more tequila in the drink would also suffice. ____________________________ #margarita #tequila #tequilablanco #mezcal #cocktails #drinkstagram #cocktailsofinstagram #mixology #cocktailrecipes #drinks #marg #margaritarecipe #spicycocktail #shrub #hibiscus #tw50bc #imbibegram #mezcalcocktails
