A new @hot.chip single ‘Eleanor’ is out today and the marvellous @laurenlaverne give it its first play this morning on @bbc6music. I started writing the chorus for the song almost exactly 2 years ago whilst on holiday in Cornwall (which explains the reference to the small town of Marazion in the outro of the song). We made the song really quickly- Alexis wrote amazing verse chords and words and I programmed drums, arp 2600 and oberheim OBXa. Al played some great bass, guitar and Jupiter 8 parts and Alexis added real piano, deckards dream and cs80 clavinet. Owen and felix added synth lead parts and then the maestro @iggor_cavalera played drums on the song and nailed it first take. We couldn’t have made it without Mike Horner who engineered and mixed for us and Tucan Michaels who did the final mix. We also had a cool session at the studio where our kids and friends came down to sing backing vocals with us, it feels apt to have them all involved in a song which deals with family and friendships and the strains put on them. Can’t wait to play this one live!!! 🥳❤️
