These are what your vocal cords look like, when you talk, sing, moan, laugh - communicate in anyway through your voice. The vocal cords (also called folds) produce sound when they come together and vibrate as air passes through them during exhalation of air from the lungs. On average, they can vibrate more than 100x per second, and sometimes, even faster. Thevibrations produces the sound wave for your voice. And, in order for the sound to be clear and not raspy or hoarse, the vocal folds must vibrate together symmetrically and regularly.
