Guizo da Cobra is out today! ---------- Guizo da Cobra is the second single from the upcoming album Bicicleta (release February 2025). This single diverges from the band’s usual uptempo energy, offering listeners their taste for adventure and a deeper, more introspective sound that defines the new album. A song about snakes on the road. Setbacks encountered on the way forward. Guizo da Cobra (meaning ‘The Snake Bell’ or ‘Rattle of the Snake') exemplifies COLLIGNON's talent for fusing diverse, unexpected styles and instruments, all while maintaining the band’s authenticity and identity. The instrumentation includes an interesting array of sounds: a 1.8-meter Thai gong with profound low-end resonance, a hang drum, and cello, all played by Gino, together with Yves’ weeping guitar, subtle touches of Jori’s Farfisa organ, and Gino’s percussion. The story of this song started when a sea-container full of 136 original Thai gongs arrived at Gino’s studio. (If you’re interested in owning a Thai temple gong, Gino still has a few available.) One night, Gino and Jori recorded a lengthy improvised session with the largest gong and a hang drum, creating an evocative interplay between Far Eastern and Caribbean sounds. Gino’s percussion and Yves’ guitar give the song a clear direction, but, unexpectedly, it’s the cello that unites all these sounds into a harmonious whole. ---------- Yves Lennertz : guitars Gino Bombrini : percussion, gong, hang drum, cello Jori Collignon : farfisa Recorded, produced and mixed by Gino, Jori and Yves at Gino’s Studio, Bathmen & @scintillement_studio, Maastricht Mastered by Frederik Dejongh at @jerboamastering Art by @emielsteenhuizen Design by @hgohenriques
