Honey cake time! 🍯🧡🐝 There is nothing fancy or elegant about honey cake. And strangely enough it doesn’t even contain honey. But it sure tastes delicious. And so easy to make. Recipe below 👇 240g golden syrup 100g treacle 170g dark brown sugar 450g self raising flour 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda 1/2 tsp baking powder 170g vegetable oil 1 1/2 cups warm water 3 eggs 1 tsp all spice 1tsp cinnamon 3tsp ginger 1 tablespoon cocoa powder 2 tablespoons apricot jam or marmalade Put the sugar and syrups in your mixer and blend. Then add the vegetable oil. In a separate bowl mix the eggs, spices and warm water. Mix together with the sugar mixture. Then add the flour and baking/bicarbonate of soda and cocoa powder. It will look quite unappealing. So don’t worry! It will come together. Add to a tin lined with grease proof paper. Bake for 1hr at 350F 170 C or until set. Traditionally I make it a square tin to cut slices but you can use a loaf tin or a Bundt pan. Enjoy! #roshashana #happynewyear #honeycake #homebaked
