For Ruffles week, I created a ‘Lady Ruffles’ look - a sculptural fashion homage to the power of the fleshy pink ruffle garden! Even though I work with drag, I don’t really impersonate women, I just wanted to honour the women who paved the way for us. When I started writing this track ‘Your Woman’ for this week’s runway, i was really inspired by ‘Woman’ by @dojacat and wanted to do my own twist from the perspective of a androgynous Asian femme boy. I thought of all the times I had been mistaken for a woman, especially when it came to dating. I thought of how many times men’s interest was piqued, relationships were started, yet abruptly ended because I could never be ‘their woman’. But it’s not a sad song, it’s a knowingly seductive song that will lure straight men to question their very idea of sexuality and gender.
