Some people have pain bending forward (flexion intolerance), some people have pain extending their spine (extension intolerance) for example. Context matters in our recommendations/path for rehabilitation! For Kyle - his pain came out when arching his back to bench. In the short term I’m having him cut back on his arched position to calm symptoms down. He’s going to do some benching with a Larson press & earthquake bar (and heavier with a barbell other days) as well as incorporate core stability drills like the McGill Big 3 and this drill I also learned from Dr. Stuart McGill. Now you can also do it with half your body hanging off the bench rather than JUST the shoulder blade in contact (this variation im showing today is a bit of a greater challenge). . #benchpress #powerlifting #backpain
