It is just over a week since ‘Troy Montes Michie: Rock of Eye’ opened at the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston, TX—and I am still living off the energy of the day. So many hands and hearts touch this project, and I feel great privilege in being one of them.
My greatest love goes out to Troy for his extraordinary work, vision, and the careful way he continues to teach me about what it means to share and grant access to the complexities of one’s life practice. Thank you for every lesson and every flash of brilliance throughout this process.
I also extend my joy and gratitude to the wonderful team at CAMH for their care and collaboration at every stage of the process, especially Patricia Restrepo for her vibratory spirit and deep investment in bringing this work back home to Texas. We all felt so welcome.
Finally, to the cohort of queer folx and women (past and present, alive and passed on) who surround this project and tend to its history and unfolding. Thank you.
