TBT: Circa 1993. I had been handling some on set duties on some commercials and print ads for David Miller. Then he was hired for Coneheads. I worked from the first test makeup to long after wrap on events to promote the movie. Including The music video for The Red Hot Chili Peppers music video (Soul to Squeeze). I was brought in to do a conehead on the clown who gets shot out of Cannon but Anthony Kiedis also asked me to design a medusa style makeup with snakes. I sculpted and molded two size snakes. I cast several in hotmelt vinyl with armature wire embedded. I took a cast of the top of Anthony's head. From that I made a fibercast "cap" that I attached the snakes. We had an animal wrangler putting real snakes in with mine. I stole the idea from The well of souls scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark. The real snakes sold that they were all real. It's funny to read posts on the internet wondering how it was done. Some said it was all CGI. 🤣 That was a great gig for me. I made a few mistakes which I learned important lessons from and it kept me employed for a good while. Thanks to David Miller and Steve Laporte. It's hard to believe it's almost been 30 years. 😱 #redhotchilipeppers #conehead #tbt #promakeup #moviemakeup #prostheticmakeup
