Badlands National Park would like to wish a Happy Mothers Day to all of the moms out there! Mother's Day became an official US holiday in 1914 after president Woodrow Wilson declared the second Sunday of May a day to celebrate mothers and the sacrifices they make. Coincidentally, it is also they time of year many animals in the park become mothers as well! Bison, bighorn sheep, deer, and many other species begin giving birth in May and into June.
