Originally from Wisconsin, Derek discovered his passion for wine & hospitality at a young age, leading him to attend the CIA Hyde Park and become a Certified Sommelier by 23. Although he's worked with an array of incredible chefs and sommeliers throughout his career, Derek's personal mentor, Jarmel Doss, has played an integral role in realizing his love for perfectly balanced flavors. Fun fact: Doss introduced Derek to tastes and aromas many of us never get to try—like bourbon from the pre-Civil War era and chartreuse flights spanning decades.
