A poster for Pharoah Sanders’ live shows at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco in 1980, following the release of Journey To The One on Theresa Records earlier that year. On these cool summer evenings, Pharoah was joined by Idris Muhammad on drums, James Pomerantz on sitar and Eddie Henderson on flugelhorn (all involved in the LP recording as well), and Bobby Lyle on piano, Henry Franklin on bass, Bill Ford on tabla, and Sonny Simmons, occasionally, on alto sax. The band performed two sets each night, with tickets at $6. A few days later, Etta James graced the same stage.
