I loved her character. What i didn’t realize until today, when i was prepping to interview her for Tyler Perry’s movie “A Jazzman’s Blues” is that she is from MY HOMETOWN! Yes I know NYC is a big place...but you have to understand. I’m from probably one of the smallest communities in the entire city. A place tucked away on the beach in Queens, called Far Rockaway. NO ONE goes there unless they have to...and it is a very “challenging” place. Use your imagination. This entire moment you’re watching is EXTREMELY UNLIKELY on so many levels. Based on where we’re from...neither I nor Amirah should be here...on a Red Carpet in Canada, with Oprah and Tyler Perry...and we’re both working...not spectating. I promise you...i let off a few 😭 after this moment. We’re from a small place with not much going on...but here we are...doin big things. My friends....YOU are NOT, your circumstances.
