Spanning from Spring 2023’s list of events, this piece left a remarkable impression on me. Essentially dealing with a celebrity, this piece challenged me in a way that I was not accustomed to. Key attention to detail was the name of the game, and the use of chronology when it came to describing the event was especially difficult to keep track of. The event was difficult to properly display given its intersectional qualities consisting of themes like oppression, transgenderism and how it coincides with the experience of being African-American in the US. One of the trickier parts, which is often coincided with issues of the press while covering live-speaker events, is the challenge of asking questions during a Q&A and notetaking the event at the same time. Though the story proved to be difficult to write, the effort paid off, winning me the second place for best entertainment story in the entertainment department.
