A recent visit with the @calfiresandiego in the community of Potrero as they worked on a 76-acre fuel break, created and maintained to provide for a safe evacuation for residents in the event of a fire and to reduce the severity of a fire to the community. Fuel breaks are generally a wide strip of land on which vegetation has been modified so that a fire burning into it can be more easily controlled. They must be monitored and maintained over the years to ensure they continue to serve their purpose of protecting people and communities from wildfire. #CALFIRE #FuelBreak #Potrero #SanDiego #
